  3. I've just started spinning from raw fleece and I can't wait til it's shearing season here so I can get more. I checked this book out from the library and immediately put it on my wishlist. I can never remember the characteristics of the different breeds and being able to look them up when I run across them would be so helpful.

  6. I have wanted to learn to knit forever! I started out exploring fiber a couple of years ago by learning to spin on a wheel I bought years ago. I've been prepping for this for sometime now!
I retired from the military a year ago and now the time is right. I found your site today and was excited to see all the available information to encourage me on my journey. Finding a give - a way is a real reward! This book would be a great reference/resource as I continue my journey of life long learning.
No matter the outcome I appreciate the content I have found on this site!

  7. I have recently started a long time dream of a Fiber Farm. I have Angora goats, Karikal sheep, French and English Angora Rabbits, and recently added Alpacas. I do a lot of spinning, Drum Carding and Dying. Beside the Animal end of feeding, shearing, and cleaning poo...lol
I think this book would really help me on the aspects of the different fibers I am working with. I have just started my Endeavor of my Fiber Farm. There is so much to learn, I am a novice at it all. so any help would be great! What a great resource to have. Thanks!

  8. What a delightful fiber resource! First it was a surprise to hear I won this giveaway, then a delight when it soon arrived! I've read through most of this densely illustrated, "Fiber Bible"-sized book. It's like an encyclopedia I can't put down. The end papers contain world and British Isles/Northern Europe maps, which I refer to often as I read about fibers and their sources, photographed in color and geographically organized. This book is a treasure. It is so enlightening to read about and see the unique qualities of distinct fibers, while also seeing the breeds of sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, etc., and where they live. Such sweet faces, and enchanting landscapes. The photographs are gorgeous; the yarns are sumptuous. I have similar historically minded books on cottons and silks for quilting, but had not heard of "The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook" until I heard about it from Sapphires-n-Purls. It will be helpful when selecting new yarns from the Sapphires-n-Purls store, just as it is so helpful learning a new stitch or technique from iknitwithcatfur videos. And yes, the source book shows spun cat fur! Thank you so much for this opportunity to learn more about these comforting, old-timey fibers and skills from authors Deborah Robson and Carol Ekarius. What a generous giveaway from Sapphires-n-Purls.
