Episode 7

Welcome to Episode 7 of the Sapphires-N-Purls podcast!  In addition to what I have been up to lately, below are links to everything I talk about in this episode.

I finally finished the dog sweater for my sister's friend!  I will be putting it in the mail this weekend.  I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  I didn't use a pattern, I just kind of winged it, and sure hope it fits!

Shadow Knitting: 1st Mystery Knitting Project is done!

Ok, here is the picture of the completed item. This was my first real attempt at shadow knitting.  Much easier than I expected, but it does take some thought when charting out the pattern.  I've been using mine as a large coaster, but it really is meant to go on my counter whenever I have something from the oven that needs to cool down.  This will come in handy for Thanksgiving dinner this year because I always seem to run out of potholders/dishtowels to set my hot dishes on.  If you made this as well, I hope you had fun knitting and like the end result.  I will have a new mystery project around the middle of December, so be sure to check back!
Pattern for the Heart Shadow Hot Pad is below the picture.

Episode 6: Cool!

I've named this episode of the podcast "Cool" because I used the word cool waaay too many times!  I apologize in advance :0)  As always I have some magazine reviews, plus I talk about a few yarns I recently got, a strange yet amusing knitting video, Vanna's Choice Yarn Contest, and we will be wrapping up the very first Mystery Knitting Project!

New Video - Double Knitting!

So I had a request for a double knitting video the other day, and finally got it up on YouTube.  This video is a bit of a departure from my usual video format.  I totally had a blast doing this one.  I went to visit my sister, and she did the recording, editing and all that stuff.  Usually I am so worried about staying in frame, the lighting, etc., but this time, since someone else was filming all I had to do was the knitting part!  It was so much easier than doing it myself.

Episode 5 of the Sapphires N Purls Podcast

Welcome to Episode 5!  In this episode, as always, I have magazine reviews.  I had a request to give more details on the particular patterns I mention, such as what kind of yarn is used, etc.  So, I have included what yarns are used and the names of the designers for each of my favorite patterns from each magazine.  Also in this episode, I review a few books: Hattitude, Vogue Knitting Shawls and Wraps, and The Knitters Book of Wool.  And it's time for Girls Night In.  I've decided to change this a little bit.  Previously, I just talked about whatever project I planned to work on, usually something I'd started ages ago and was trying to finish; now I'd like this to be kind of a knit along feature.  I'll tell you what the project is, and where you can find the pattern.  Of course, you are not obligated to participate.  I'm just putting it out there, and if you would like to knit what I am knitting, great!  Along the way, I'll talk about how far I've gotten with the pattern, problems I've encountered and the like.  Below are links to everything I talk about in this episode.  Enjoy!

Whew!

I have been working on getting all of the stuff from the Webs site over here.  It is pretty time consuming.  I have been able to get a lot done, however there is still much to do.  I don't really have a time frame for when everything will be done. I had hoped to have it all done this weekend, but I wasn't able to work on anything at all yesterday.  I had to take my car in for service, and of course that took forever; after that I went out with my mom and sister for a few hours.  After all of that, I needed an adult beverage, so was in no condition to do anything.  :0)  I also need to get started on my second podcast; I already have so much to talk about I can't wait to start recording.  And the next episode is going to have the first I've Got a Secret Knitting Project, so I really need to start working on that.  I already know what it is, but I do need to write out the pattern, start knitting it.... all that fun stuff. For right now though, it is a beautiful morning, and I don't want to waste any more time sitting in front of this computer, I've already been sitting here so long my butt has fallen asleep.  So I am going to make a nice cup of tea and go out to my porch and knit!!!  This nice weather will be gone before too long, and I don't want to miss a minute of it!  Until next time, Happy Knitting!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new home!  I've had a blog on Webs the last few months, which I haven't been too happy with, so have decided to move here!  Over the next few weeks, I will be moving all of my posts, photos, and videos so please bear with me.  I am not anticipating this to be an easy task.  I hope you will find both help and inspiration for your knitting here.  I have lots to share, so I hope you will come back soon!
